We compare the asking price with those of similar cars, based on model, year, mileage and spec. Most cars get one of five ratings: Super price, Good price, Fair price, A bit pricey or Expensive.

The rating tells you about the price, not the car's condition, so a good price is no substitute for an inspection. Check the MOT history and service record, and ideally have it checked by a mechanic before you buy.
